Oldham Weather Forecast: Windy Easter Weekend Before Brighter Spring Weather Returns (2–6 April)
The upcoming Easter Bank Holiday is expected to be a true spring mix, as the latest Oldham Weather Forecast indicates. The first few days of April have been a reminder of how rapidly things can change this time of year, and the next few days are no exception, with strong winds, changing temperatures, and scattered showers all forecast, but with calmer weather still to come. This is not exactly the dream Easter break we’d dreamed of, but there will be a few chances to catch something of the dry and pleasant weather experienced on Thursday and again on Bank Holiday Monday. Confidence in the forecast is still quite high until the weekend, but the time and strength of showers could shift slightly in the next couple of days. So, as far as the overall weather outlook for the entire month of April, Oldham Weather Forecast suggests that no two days will be exactly the same this month; therefore, it’s best to stay tuned for news and information before heading outdoors.

Weather Highlights
Thursday Weather Forecast
A cool and locally misty morning is followed by a fairly positive Thursday. As the mist lifts, there will be many fine sunny spells across Oldham and the surrounding areas, and it will still feel pleasant in the middle of the day despite temperatures staying close to the seasonal average. In the afternoon, cloud will slowly increase to the west in front of a weather front, bringing hazier sunshine before the cloud becomes mostly cloudy by evening. No rain is forecast until overnight, so many outdoor activities will be able to proceed without interruption. The Oldham Weather Forecast states that light southwesterly winds will be increasing during the day as the next Atlantic system moves closer, allowing for a much more changeable spell of weather to start in the evening.
This is the Good Friday Weather Forecast.
This will be noticeable on Good Friday when an area of low pressure approaches North West England. It will be a combination of sunshine, fast-moving clouds, and numerous spells of showers, but there will still be a few dry spells between the showers. During the afternoon, when there is increased instability, some showers might become heavier and briefly lower visibility, leading to gusty conditions. Another forecast change is that winds will also play a major role in the forecast, with wind gusts reaching up to about 30mph in exposed areas, making it feel cooler than it actually is. Highest temperatures will be around 12°C, fairly normal for early April. The Oldham Weather Forecast is advising that extra time should be given for travellers travelling this Good Friday, especially on exposed roads where high crosswinds could be an issue for driving.
Weekend Weather Outlook
Saturday
Slightly brighter spells and early sunshine will start the day on Saturday, but this will be short-lived. Cloud will gradually increase in the west during the morning whilst outbreaks of rain will move in later in the afternoon and evening. The primary story will be the gusty winds as they increase, some reaching 50 mph in the higher ground and in more exposed areas. Temperatures will climb to around 14°C even though it will be an unsettled day, making it the mildest day of the forecast period. If you’re going to go outside, you’ll want to get it done sooner in the day when the weather’s better. During the evening, as the winds grow stronger, garden furniture and any light outdoor furniture should also be secured.

Easter Sunday
A cooler air mass is moving back over the region behind the weather system that passed through the area on Saturday, on Easter Sunday. A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers of rain and/or hail will accompany this day, with the showers occasionally becoming heavy, and the hail sometimes small, but some hail may have a rumbling sound, or even a thunderous sound in isolated places. Temperatures will remain around 9°C with fresh westerly winds throughout the day; this will make it feel several degrees colder, especially in exposed areas. While the rain may be intermittent, there will be a lot of variation in the weather from hour to hour. If you are outside for any length of time, the Oldham Weather Forecast will say you need to bring waterproof clothes as showers can occur suddenly, even during sunny spells.

Bank Holiday Monday
The best day of the Easter break so far is Bank Holiday Monday. If there are any isolated overnight showers, these should clear early, leaving more hours of sunshine for the morning, and more for the afternoon. Temperatures will be more comfortable again as wind turns more southerly, bringing them closer to 15°C on Easter Sunday. A few isolated showers may occur, but the majority of the day will be dry and with a good amount of spring sunshine. The Oldham Weather Forecast says it will be the perfect time for family outings, local walks, gardening or just some time outside before heading into another working week.

Surface temperature and Rainfall Outlook
Throughout this forecast period, temperatures will vary significantly as various air masses will pass over the UK. Thursday and Friday are near normal for early April with more clouds and rain, before Saturday briefly becoming the mildest. Thereafter, it is cooler on Easter Sunday with the day’s temperatures falling back considerably before another recovery starts on Bank Holiday Monday. Rainfall will not be heavy in abundance across Oldham, but several spells of showers and one heavier period of more organised rain in the late evening of Saturday will provide sufficient rain to make things feel unsettled. April is expected to start with another typical spring mix of Atlantic weather systems and sunshine, as the Oldham Weather Forecast remains unchanged.
Outdoor Conditions
There will be a bit of flexibility needed when planning outdoor activities for this year’s Easter Bank Holiday. Excellent conditions for walking, running or gardening on Thursday, before the cloud thickens up later in the day. A good day for outdoor activity is still expected for Good Friday, but be ready for showers and strong winds. Saturday morning will be mostly dry, but with increasing winds and rain later in the day; Easter Sunday will call for warm clothing as it will be cooler and showery. Bank Holiday Monday is once again the better day with some more sun and milder weather making the day the best for outdoor events, family picnics, and countryside strolls. On days with sunshine, UV levels start to rise in April and can still be high even when it is cool, so it is advisable to consider using sunscreen when spending extended periods outside.
Looking Ahead
Further ahead of Easter weekend, the forecast models indicate the weather may gradually get more settled as the pressure is set to rise over parts of the UK. There are some signs that longer periods of sunshine, lighter winds and slightly warmer afternoons will start to become more frequent towards the end of next week, though a couple of showers are still possible during the early days of the week. High pressure is expected to build up during the day, leading to further improved weather, although overnight temperatures will remain cool under clear skies. Weather confidence wanes further out in the extended forecast, but at this time, the Oldham version is more favourable than during the Easter holiday period when it was more unsettled. Forecasts will be updated regularly as the new week progresses to give a sense of certainty.
Forecast Summary
The Oldham Weather Forecast calls for an interesting Easter holiday for the next five days with a little of everything. The weather on Thursday is nice and sunny with increasing cloud overnight, and then showers, gusty winds and typical spring weather on Good Friday. Saturday gets progressively windier and later in the day with rain before cooler air brings sunshine and heavy showers plus windy (blustery) weather on Easter Sunday. Luckily, this Bank Holiday Monday will bring a much more optimistic outlook, as there will be more prolonged sunny spells and less wind or cold. Further ahead, there are increasing indications that high pressure could start to return to the UK, to help bring some calmer, brighter Spring weather with it over the coming week.
