Oldham Weather Forecast: Warm Spring Days, Chilly Nights and a Change Next Week (19–22 March 2026)

Greetings and welcome to the Oldham Weather Forecast for this week. Following a spell of fine weather and what many have considered to be the best weather we have had so far this year, there has been speculation regarding whether spring has finally arrived. According to our forecast for the next few days, it seems that spring is here to stay. High pressure will dominate throughout northwest England, which means that another few days of dry and sunny weather are on their way. Even though Wednesday saw the highest temperatures recorded this year, these temperatures will ease off in the upcoming days, although when it is sunny, afternoons will still remain pleasantly warm. In contrast, temperatures will plummet during the night because of the clear skies, causing chilly mornings and even a chance of ground frost. According to the Oldham Weather Forecast, there could also be some fog in the mornings and low clouds before clearer skies appear. As for the next week, our forecasts become less reliable since Atlantic weather systems are getting closer to the UK. There will probably be sunny days until the weekend, with cloudiness and showers possible during the beginning of the following week.

Thursday Weather Forecast

Areas of low cloud and patchy mist are likely to form across parts of Oldham in lower-lying areas and higher ground places from Thursday onwards. Throughout the morning, it will gradually become sunny, and this will be the main scenery for the rest of the day. Temperatures will rise to about 17°C on another very nice spring afternoon, although it will be a little cooler than on Wednesday. Winds will be light during the day, with the sun coming out to make it feel warmer than the temperature. The dry conditions are perfect for outdoor pursuits, gardening, and for taking the most from the Spring sunshine. The evening is mostly clear again, and the temperature drops markedly during the night. Additional ground frosts are possible in sheltered areas early Friday morning. In general, the Oldham Weather Forecast indicates pleasant and calm weather in the area.

Friday Weather Forecast

Friday will be a cool morning as a diminishing weather front moves into the eastern side of the country. This may bring in low cloud and occasional hill fog in the early morning hours, especially over exposed sites. Luckily, these cloudy conditions are not predicted to hold throughout the day. Some more dry and pleasant sunshine will gradually return in the west as the morning progresses, leaving the afternoon with another dry and pleasant day across Oldham. It will be around 16°C and breezy enough to make it easy to enjoy outdoor activities. Settled weather will continue for the whole day with improvement in gardens, parks and walking routes. Skies clear again after sunset for a second cold night with patchy frost in sheltered places, with temperatures dropping back to around 3°C during the evening. The Oldham Weather Forecast also predicts that the weekend will start dry, before the showers and thunderstorms of the weekend get underway.

Weekend Weather Outlook

Low temperatures continue again on Saturday with clear skies overnight. Mist and areas of low cloud are possible in the early morning hours over higher ground and in sheltered valleys across some parts of Oldham. The cloud will be a little bit thicker than it was on previous days, but it should thin during the late morning and afternoon. After the sun finally appears, it’s going to be a nice, mild day despite the highs of only around 15°C. Some places will be under thicker cloud for longer, and where this happens can feel cooler, with a very small risk of patchy drizzle over the Pennines, but most places will remain dry throughout. Light winds will mean another pleasant afternoon for walking, cycling, gardening or just enjoying the fresh spring air. Overall, the Oldham Weather Forecast indicates that on Saturday, the weather will be fairly calm with a higher expected amount of sunshine than cloud cover for most areas.

It will be a gentle turn in the pattern with Sunday bringing in a nice warm-up. Morning cloud likely again will be a bit stubborn in eastern parts but will start to dissipate a bit during the afternoon as winds pick up. Brighter skies continue to build with sunny spells becoming more common in and over Oldham, with temps slightly lower than the previous days, around 14°C. The breeze will liven up the air, especially in the afternoon, but most areas will be dry all day. Weather should not interfere with outdoor plans, but a light jacket could be helpful in the cooler morning hours. As evening falls, clouds will gradually begin to thicken from the west, a first indication that the settled spell of weather is nearing an end. Despite this, the Oldham Weather Forecast forecasts another fine spring day on Sunday with more unsettled conditions kicking in from next week.

There will be no update on temperature and rainfall outlook.

Temperatures are to stay comfortably above average for much of the period in the latest Oldham Weather Forecast, but will slowly return to normal levels after Wednesday’s record hot weather. Highs from 14°C to 17°C will be seen in the afternoon during the forecast period, and at night will drop well into the 3°C to 5°C range with mostly clear skies. This is a large difference between day and night temperatures and is characteristic of spring with a high-pressure system. Likely dry weather is forecast over most of Oldham with little rain likely over the weekend. There is little sign of any significant precipitation before next week, although some morning clouds or mist are possible at times.

Outdoor Conditions

The next few days are an even greater chance to get outside. Several hours of sunshine will continue to be enjoyed by gardeners in the afternoons, but chilly mornings might necessitate early watering in some locations. Once early mist clears it should be a good day for walkers, runners and cyclists with light winds and good visibility. It is advisable for drivers to be aware there may be patchy fog in the early morning in a few sheltered areas. As spring advances, so do the UV levels, so those who spend long periods of time outdoors will need to keep in mind that sunshine is getting much stronger than it was just a few weeks ago. These fine conditions, according to the Oldham Weather Forecast, are one of the best weekends so far this Spring for outdoor activities.

Looking Ahead

Confidence fades as we enter next week. The high-pressure system which has brought several days of sunshine will slowly move away, and Atlantic systems will get nearer to northwest England. Monday will start dry, but will become cloudy later in the day with a few light showers also rolling in later in the day. Another ridge of high pressure may provide a fleeting brighter spell on Tuesday, but this is expected to be short-lived. In addition, there’s a decreasing level of confidence in the forecast as each weather model provides a slightly different picture. Others forecast more persistent unsettled conditions, with some rain and increased winds, but with the pressure remaining close. The Oldham Weather Forecast will keep on top of developments in the coming days, but for now, it is best to make the most of the settled weather as it is today.

Forecast Summary

In sum, another positive Oldham Weather Prediction, as spring keeps on providing good weather throughout the area. Warm afternoon temperatures, cold night temperatures and overall dry weather will continue to be the weather story this weekend. Morning cloud and mist may at times provide a delay in sunshine, but for most areas, there will be some hours of bright sunshine each day. The weather will remain comfortable outdoors as rainfall is unlikely until early next week at least, with light winds to help. Further ahead, Atlantic weather systems are forecast to gradually return, with a growing amount of cloud and the threat of a shower with the onset of the unsettled spell. In the meantime, residents are advised to make the best of the sunshine, enjoy the warmer afternoons and be ready for the start of some more unpredictable spring weather this week. The Oldham Weather Forecast will remain updated, with improvement in understanding as the weather pattern becomes clearer and as confidence increases.
